  My husband and I love tacos and Mexican food almost as much as life. So, when we hear about a great Mexican place close to home we've GOT TO check it out!
  
  First impressions aren't everything, right? It's colorful and fairly big inside El Faro, but don't look too closely or you'll see some dust bunnies. As long as the kitchen is spotless, I can deal.
  
  Right away we were served chips and salsa. There were two salsas (pics de gallo and a smoky spicy) both very good! Both had a bit of a kick, but if I'm being fair, I can hardly bear the heat of a jalapeño.
  We each have things we seek in a really good Mexican restaurant. He critiques the tortilla, flavor and quality of the meat, and flavor of the salsas. Whereas, in addition to those above, I also critique the rice and beans. Why? Because if the side dishes can't stand next to the main event, the whole meal becomes subpar. You feel me? Anyways, we each ordered a taco dinner, chicken for me and steak for the hubby. Everything was all around fantastic! The dinner comes with sour cream (ick) and guacamole (umm hello?! YUM!). Everything from the rice and beans, tortilla, quality and flavor the meat, and guacamole were awesome. The ONLY thing this plate needed was some fresh lime on top. Otherwise, I cannot wait to come back as their menu is huge!! I'm an enchilada girl, though, so next time I will most DEFINITELY be getting some!
  
  It's probably worth noting that they have $0.99 (small) taco Tuesdays, the horchata is bomb, and they do not have flan.

  Don't eat here unless you want to lose some weight because you will get food poisoning! I've only heard good things about this place, which is why I was shocked! So my boyfriend and I went here over the weekend and we both got different things. That night/ next day he spent being very sick. We thought it was the flu and didn't think much about it. We ate here last night and I ate tacos (which is what he got last time) and I spent last night very sick. It's not worth it.

  Just recently moved to the area. We ordered a steak burrito and a chicken burrito with just chicken cheese and sour cream. Came home and the burrito has lettuce on it. Called to say that the order was wrong and if they could accommodate for next time since it's snowing out and we already drove there once; they accused us of lying about the lettuce. Why would someone lie about lettuce so silly.... Will not be ordering from this place again. Horrible customer service. We told them we would post on yelp with a photo and so here we are now, having to give a poor review. Super disappointing because the one in Elgin was so good. Will need to find a Mexican restaurant with nicer people who work there.

  Great service and amazing food! Small place and don't let the store front and area fool you! This is great Mexican food!!!

  Wanted Mexican food on the way to a nearby concert.  Saw this spot & decided to try.  Looked okay on the outside, more festive inside.  No greeting, though 2 ladies were nearby cleaning tables.  About 3 minutes later a lady came by with menus & another lady with salsa & chips.  The second lady came back 5 minutes later with drink order she was being  very friendly with customers already in the restaurant. She took food order, understood and spoke English.  Decent music, tv was off, window sill had lots of dead mosquitoes.  Don't think they clean it often.  The menu is a novel.  Way too many options.  Food came: decent tasting burrito, lots of cheese, will check cholesterol later, rice was decent, don't like received beans - stayed away, salsa was spicy & good.   The ladies forgot about us after a group of 9 came in.  We had to wait 12 minutes to get their attention for a take out container & check.  The horchata glass was fresh smelling. They could use some bleach.  The First Lady brought us the wrong check.  Receiving the check took us 17 mins because of their attention to the other party.
